MARGAO: Thousands of devotees participated in the traditional lantern procession of Our Lady of Rosary at Navelim in the wee hours of Monday.
The procession which started from Mount Carmel, Telaulim Chapel wound its way through Telaulim before it culminated at the Rosary ground, Navelim before dawn. The traditional procession marked the beginning of the 10-day novenas of the feast of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim, which is celebrated every year on the third Wednesday of November.
The twin villages of Telaulim and Navelim wore a festive look with the entire three km procession route decorated with arcs and lights. Rosary Parish Priest Fr Jose Roque Gonsalves was the main celebrant at the concelebrated mass held at the Our Lady of Rosary school grounds at 5.30 am.
In his homily Fr Nelson Lobo exhorted the faithful to emulate the virtues of humility as followed by Mother Mary to enjoy the fruits in the Kingdom of God.
