CURCHOREM: A large crowd gathered to witness the Shigmo float parade organized by Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) and Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC). The parade was inaugurated at the hands of Senior citizen from Curchorem, CCMC councilors and CCMC Chief Officer Sagun Velip.
The parade began from near the railway station and culminated at KTC bus stand after wending its way through Curchorem market. Large number of people gathered to get a glimpse into the rich cultural traditional dances which was put up by the groups of women as well as men attired in traditional costumes and they were dancing to the rhythmic beats of Dhol and other traditional musical instruments and folk songs.
Apart from men, small children were dressed up depicting various characters to enthrall all the spectators. Sanvordem MLA Deepak Pawaskar was the chief guest and Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral was the guest of honour who later gave away the prizes to the winners. Meanwhile, Dharbandora Shigmohotsav Samiti in association with Directorate of Tourism will organize the Shigmo parade on March 21.
According to Deputy Collector of Dharbandora Agnelo Fernandes the parade will start at 4.30 pm from Ponsulem and culminated near the Central Hospital.
