SAL: A meeting of Latambarcem Comunidade was held where the gauncars were informed about certain crucial developments about the finances of the comunidade.
The clerk informed gauncars that 1.91 lakh sq metres of land in Survey No. 625/1 was acquired by the government for the proposed Latambarcem Industrial Estate.
The respective land also has names of ‘Kul’ as shareholder with the comunidade. The clerk stated that the money from the land sold to the government was divided in half between comunidade and Kul with comunidade receiving Rs 45 lakh.
As per Gauncars, the comunidade should have received a payment in crores if the rates of the land are considered. They held the comunidade’s council on the edge with the barrage of questions. They asked the council if it utilised the money without taking them in confidence and demanded a probe into the matter by the Directorate of Vigilance. They demanded that the matter be referred to the chief minister and passed a resolution not to allow sale of a single plot until and unless the pending amount is recovered.
The meeting was held in Shri Sateri Bhumika temple hall at Kasarpal.
A resolution was also passed not to hold meetings without the permission from comunidade management as per the law. The council stated that the meeting was called since the matter was crucial and pertained to the court.
Gauncars also highlighted the fact that despite being the biggest comunidade in Bicholim, Latambarcem does not have its own independent office and efforts should be initiated to construct one.
