CUNCOLIM: The ‘no confidence motion’ against Cuncolim Municipal Council Chairperson Lavita Mascarenhas was defeated by seven to five votes at a special meeting, on Thursday.
Quepem Municipal Council Chief Officer Pramod Desai presided over the special meeting.
Mascarenhas won the trust vote with the support of five BJP-backed councillors. This is the second time in 15 years Mascarenhas won a no confidence motion moved by her own ruling group members.
Vice-chairperson Mario Morais and four other ruling members had moved a no confidence motion against Mascarenhas.
