PONDA: Ponda BJP Block Committee member Sunil Dessai has accused Ponda MLA Lavu Mamledar of creating controversy on Sopo and instigating the vendors to agitate.
Addressing a news conference at Ponda, Dessai, who is also Ponda Municipal councillor, stated that “Mamledar is responsible for Sopo tax controversy in Ponda, which is prevailing over the last one year.”
“Infact, there is no controversial issue in Ponda. Such type of issues should not be created. There is no Sopo issue and the Sopo issue is unnecessarily dragged by him and vendors in Ponda market,” he said.
“If he thinks there is Sopo issue, then there is alliance between MGP and BJP, who should sit together to find a solution to the problem, if any arises. In case he feels there is Sopo issue, he should call us and we are ready to sit with him to discuss and resolve the issue,” added Dessai.
“Since there is MGP-BJP alliance government, he should not indulge in such things,” he said.
Dessai further alleged that the MLA speaks to press, but never attended meetings despite the meeting intimation sent to him by PMC. “He is also an ex-officio member of PMC and every meeting invitation and minutes of the meeting are being sent to him regularly when PMC meeting is held,” stated Dessai.
“Several meetings were held and Sopo issue was discussed several times, but he never attended, but on the contrary attended vendors meeting and is instigating the vendors to agitate on Sopo issue,” alleged Dessai.
Dessai said Rajiv Kala Mandir project work is delayed too much and along with MLA Mamledar they are also trying hard so that the project is completed at the earliest.
“There is good relation between MGP and BJP, which is clear from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari attending the function to launch development project in Goa along with PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar. BJP is not making any difference in regard to development project at Ponda and all alliance constituencies,” he added.
Ponda BJP vice president Mortu Curtikar and secretary Nagesh Priolkar were present for the news conference.
