Leases: IBM, mines dept joint inspection

PANJIM: The Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) and Mines department are set to conduct joint inspection from Tuesday of those leases whose lease holders have paid stamp duty, officials said.

The inspection would be conducted to ascertain the facts pertaining to these leases. The IBM team would also be going through the documents of the leases.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had on the floor of the House announced that it would execute lease deeds of 27 mines by October 15.
The decisions of the government are based on High Court directives which had asked the government to grant leases to these 27 mines considering that government collected stamp duty from these mines after verifying their legality.
