PANJIM: The lecture-basis teachers, working across various higher secondary schools, have demanded hike in their daily remuneration or to appoint them on contract basis on job security.
Several lecture-basis teachers held a press conference, during which they informed about representation made to the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to hike their daily remuneration from Rs 260 to Rs 600 and the same be provided monthly basis.
They also recommended that if government cannot consider an increase, then they should be appointed on contract basis at a monthly salary of Rs 40,000.
“We, the Lecture Basis teachers of Goa, would like to bring to your notice that inspite of putting so many years of uncompromised services in various institutions, we are facing various issues,” the teachers said in their representation pointing out that more than 220 of them, working without any increment since 2015.
“Hence, now we demand an increment in the salary from Rs 250 per lecture to minimum Rs 600 per lecture, due to rising inflation. Salary should be credited on a monthly basis rather than received after 4-6 months since most of the teachers depend on it for the livelihood,” they said.
