Leela Hotel supervisor booked for homicide of electrician

MARGAO: Colva Police on Friday booked a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against the Electrical Supervisor and others of the Leela Hotel following the death of Rahul Komarpant who had got an electric shock on October 1 while replacing a tube light in the hotel premises.
Rahul was working as an apprentice; he had climbed a latter to replace the tube light when he got electrocuted and fell down. He was rushed to Victor Hospital as that is the hospital empanelled by the hotel for its staff.
He apparently suffered head injuries when he fell down from the ladder and was undergoing treatment when he died last night. The post mortem report indicates that death that occurred within a period of 24 hours prior to the post mortem was due to head injuries suffered following an electric shock.
The body has been handed over to the family members and police who had initially booked a case for endangering a person’s life or safety under Section 336 of the Indian Penal Code have now added Section 304 of the IPC which is culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
