PANJIM: PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral on Monday said that the work of the left hand side (LHS) of the new signature Zuari Bridge is on schedule and it is likely to be ready by December 10 this year.
Cabral said that due to rains, work had to be stopped for six to seven but by December 10, all works were likely to be completed. After completion, load testing will be done and the bridge is likely to be thrown open to the public by December end or early January next year.
The four-lane of the eight-lane cable-stayed bridge was opened for vehicular traffic in December last year thereby putting an end to traffic chaos at Agasaim and Cortalim side.
Cabral also said that the PWD is in the process of finalising on two diversion roads to minimise the woes commuters will face once the work of Porvorim elevated six-lane highway corridor starts. He said three to three sites are being considered. The Rajasthan- based Rajendra Singh Bhamboo Infra Private Ltd (RSBIPL) has been allotted the Rs 474.64 crore contract for the construction of elevated corridor at Porvorim.
