PERNEM: Tourist season has ended and shacks, other structures from the beach are removed. However, the left out parts of bamboo used to erect the shacks on the beach are now causing inconvenience to people visiting on Arambol beach.
The locals claimed that the irresponsible and unprofessionalism behaviour of shack owners is causing inconvenience to people visiting the beach.
Adding to the claims locals said that instead of removing the bamboo sticks from the roots, the shack owners have dismantled it by breaking the bamboo sticks above the sand and now since the sand from the beach have washed out during the rains, remaining parts of those bamboo sticks which were left out have come up causing inconvenience to locals and tourists.
Locals alleged that the shack owners give the responsibility of dismantling shacks to their workers and do not check whether the work is done properly or not. A local person from the area – Dmello complaining about his experience on the beach said, “Day before yesterday I had gone to the beach for a walk and while I was busy enjoying the beauty of the nature, I stepped down on one of the bamboo sticks, fortunately, no injuries were caused since I was wearing slippers. Many people come to the beach to walk barefoot and to enjoy nature.
“However, if such broken sticks are lying on the beach then it will cause inconvenience to tourists”.
The fishermen said that since the monsoon has begun, the fishing activities have increased, especially during the night. However, due to the presence of
these sticks, their nets are getting destroyed as well as causing injuries to them.
