PONDA: The Legal Metrology Department on Tuesday conducted raids on the shops in town and seized goods worth Rs 1.50 lakh for selling goods without name of the manufacturer, date of packing, MRP and customer care numbers.
The raid was conducted by a team led by Legal Metrology Inspector at Ponda Shubert D’Costa, Nitin Purusharan Assistant Controller South Zone Demu Mapari, Assistant Controller Central Zone and others.
During the raids it was found that the Bajarang Bali Shop, and Zambleshwar Trading were selling goods such as gas cylinders, gas stove, other kitchen accessories without name of the manufacturer, date of packing, MRP and customer care number etc.
The raids were conducted following complaints from the consumers for violation of Legal Metrology Act 2009 read with Legal Metrology Package Rule 2011.
