MARGAO: The Legal Metrology Department, Margao seized masala packets worth Rs 3 lakh for violation of weight and measure norms, following a drive against a distributor and super stockiest of a reputed masala brand.
The said packages had mentioned the declaration “Non-standard size under Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011” which was in violation of Legal Metrology Act 2009, read with Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011.
Nitin P Purushan, Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology, South Zone-I, Margao, has appealed to the consumers to check the mandatory declaration particularly month and year of manufacture/pre-packing date/import date before buying any packaged commodity.
