Ozri, Deulwada: Residents of Ozri village are living in fear following a series of leopard attacks that have claimed the lives of 11 calves over the past three months.
Local farmer Rajaram Ramesh Naik reported that despite repeated complaints to the authorities, no effective steps have been taken to address the situation. “We have sent several letters to the concerned department, but till now, they have failed to install a cage to trap the leopard,” Naik said.

The villagers allege that the Forest Department’s inaction has left them vulnerable, especially since the area is surrounded by dense forest, making it easy for wild animals to stray close to human settlements.
Adding to their anxiety, residents expressed deep concern for school-going children, as the primary school in the area lies close to the forest zone. “The fear has spread through the entire community. We are worried for our children’s safety,” said another villager.
The villagers have urged the Forest Department to take immediate measures, including deploying cages and increasing patrolling in the affected area, to prevent further attacks and restore a sense of safety in the community.
