CUNCOLIM: Although hunting of wild animals is illegal and a crime in our country and State, even today wild animals are hunted in large numbers in the State.

A leopard died after getting stuck in a snare set for a wild boar in the forest of Dabem-Morpilla in Quepem Taluka.  People in rural areas place cable traps to catch wild animals and animals get stuck in these traps and die.

On Saturday, a trap was laid in the forest to hunt a wild boar that unfortunately killed a leopard.

As soon as the Forest Department officials got information about the incident, they reached the spot and after conducting a panchnama of the incident, the dead leopard was sent for postmortem.

Forest Department officials are investigating the matter.
