Leopard kills calf, pet dogs at Honda

HONDA: The presence of a leopard at Bhuipal in Honda has terrified locals as the big cat has started preying on cattle and pet dogs.

Locals say that they often spotted the leopard prowling around the check post and at Dobwada and Bhedshewada for the last two months. 

Mahanand Kolapte from Bhedshewada said that the big cat had killed four of his pet dogs and injured another belonging to Sunil Bazari.  

Dhaktu Davne another resident stated that the leopard entered his cow shed and killed a calf and injured another. Davne later reported the incident at the forest guard at Bhuipal check post, a medical officer from veterinary hospital at Honda conducted the panchnama.  Panch Smita Mote said that she has contacted the Valpoi Forest Department’s Chief Officer Shyamsundar Gawas and urged him to capture the leopard.
