PANJIM: The Congress on Monday asked the BJP government to clarify on allegations by Sunburn event organisers who complained about the treatment meted out to them by the government.
Congress Legislator from Curtorim Reginaldo Lourenco said that the circumstances surrounding the entire event and granting of permission for the same, were suspicious.
“Let the government and chief minister clarify on the issue of Sunburn. Is this a ploy to give the Rs one crore deposit back to the government?” Lourenco asked, adding that the file was delayed with the tourism minister, who made statements saying that Sunburn, should be moved to the South.
“Why was this confusion created? When we were in power, they accused us of making deals with Sunburn. Let this government now clarify, whether there has been a deal or not in this matter,” Lourenco quipped.
Herald had reported how the organisers of Sunburn, an electronic music festival held every year, over the last few years, had complained of being given unfair treatment, which they claimed resulted in loss to them.
Congress spokesperson Sudip Tamhankar also took on the government over the issue of the mining people saying that the government has not fulfilled its promise of compensating them and further has done nothing to recover the loot from mining companies.
