MARGAO: Goa Women’s Forum has written to Goa Governor Mridula Sinha over the inaction of government agencies against escort service websites promoting sex tourism in Goa. The Forum is a collective of women volunteers of civic and consumer forums.
In an email to Sinha, the Forum pointed out that despite bringing the matter to the notice of Goa University vice chancellor, Director of Higher Education, District Collectors of North & South Goa, Superintendents of Police of North & South Goa and the Director of Tourism, no positive action has been taken by these officials to either shut down these escort service websites or block them.
It may be recalled that escort service websites are selling sex services by offering college girls and housewives. Moreover the escort services have not spared even religious places and the university as the websites continues to show that it provides call girls from the Basilica of Bom Jesus and Goa University.
The Forum has appealed to Sinha to take a bold decision and make the chief secretary and director general of Police to do all that is required in law to shut down these escort service websites which are openly promoting sex tourism in Goa by portraying Goa University and college girl students as call girls.
