MARGAO: Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza will inaugurate the Prof George Mark Moraes memorial library and late Jack de Sequeira conference room at Bencleamwaddo, Cuncolim Municipal area, on January 3.
President of Holy Cross Chapel Committee, Mario Moraes, said the library and conference facility will spread knowledge and education amongst younger generation. “The library and hall is housed in an area admeasuring 44 sq mts each and can accommodate 40 persons at a time.”
We have plans to conduct competitive activities for school children”, Moraes said.
Replying to a question, Moraes said the library has been named after Prof George Mark Moraes as a tribute to the distinguished historian and educationist, hailing from the historical village of Cuncolim.
He said the building has been funded by the Directorate of Municipal Administration to the tune of Rs seven lakh, while the chapel committee has chipped in an equal amount towards its furnishing.
Danny Moraes said the conference facility is named after Dr Jack de Sequeira for his role in the historic Opinion Poll which helped Goa to retain its identity.
Committee Vice-President Jovito Moraes was also present.
