PANJIM: The Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration has suspended the retail drug licence of M/s Ashapura Medical Stores, chemist and druggist, Zuarinagar, Sancoale dispensing drugs without the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
The licence will stand suspended for a period of one day on November 13, 2013.
The FDA said that the pharmacy also had indulged in other violations such as non maintenance of purchase and sales records of prescription drugs, etc.
As per the law, the dispensing and sale of drugs has to be done under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and in order that the public knows who the registered pharmacist is, they are expected to wear lab courts.
The Directorate of Food and Drug Administration has begun to conduct surprise checks on pharmacies that are not following the norms and sending out notices when there is a perceived violation.
