Lifeguards Save 13 Lives in Dramatic Weekend Rescues Across Goa’s Beaches

In a remarkable display of courage and quick response, Goa’s lifeguards executed a series of daring rescues, saving a total of 13 individuals over the weekend. Among the rescued were two foreign nationals and a Gujarat resident, whose harrowing experience unfolded at the iconic Dudhsagar waterfalls.

The incident at Dudhsagar involved a 34-year-old man from Gujarat who slipped off a rock, plunging into the water below. Struggling to stay afloat, the quick response of Devendra Naik, a vigilant lifeguard, proved crucial. Utilizing a rescue tube, Naik swiftly brought the distressed individual back to safety.

A triple rescue operation unfolded at Morjim beach when a mother and son, accompanied by a bystander, faced imminent danger in the water. lifeguards Vikas Chavan and Ketan Nagvekar sprang into action, rescuing the trio from a potentially tragic outcome.

Calangute beach witnessed another successful intervention by lifeguards when three men from Karnataka and Maharashtra found themselves unable to swim back to shore. Hari Chopdekar, Leslie Rodrigues, and Shubham Keluskar worked seamlessly to secure the stranded men, ensuring their safe return.

A challenging situation unfolded at Arambol beach, where a jetski was deployed to rescue two men from Indore and a 24-year-old Russian woman caught in a rough current. The skillful operation by the lifesaving team brought the trio safely back to shore.

Off Mandrem beach, a 10-year-old minor from Italy faced a perilous situation as strong waves carried him away. Hiren Keluskar and Shubham Satelkar acted swiftly, employing a rescue tube to secure the young boy and bring him back to safety.

Additional rescues took place at Arambol sweet water lake and Calangute beach, where a 25-year-old woman from Rajasthan and a 34-year-old man from Mumbai were safely secured to shore. lifeguards also provided first aid at Baina and Calangute beaches, administering oxygen to a 21-year-old man experiencing chest pain and attending to a woman who cut her hand while disembarking from a boat.

In a heartwarming moment at Palolem, a nine-year-old boy was successfully reunited with his parents, thanks to the collaborative efforts of a fisherman and the vigilant lifeguards.
