Lifer for two murder convicts

MARGAO: The South Goa Sessions court on Friday sentenced two persons to life imprisonment for the murder of a 60-year-old man in the year 2013.

Additional Sessions Judge Vincent D’Silva sentenced Suresh Naik and Suresh Mane to life imprisonment and to pay a fine of Rs 1000 and in default to undergo one year imprisonment.
The duo was convicted for the murder of Sitaram Mama (60) after the prosecution proved the homicidal death and motive behind the murder, which was attributed to previous enmity.
Public prosecutor Asha Arsekar examined 21 witnesses in support of the prosecution case, which was based on circumstantial evidence.
In this case, the Collem police headed by PI Jivba Dalvi had charged Suresh Naik and Suresh Mane for the murder of Sitaram Mama at an abandoned and dilapidated house belonging to the South Western railway on October 26, 2013. The prosecution charged the duo for assaulting the deceased with kicks and blows and with a danda on his head which proved fatal, killing the victim on the spot. 
Police claimed the accused and the deceased had previous enmity over the sharing of wages.
