BELGAUM: Strongly condemning the BJP government in Goa as “anti-Hindu and opportunistic” leaders of various Hindu organisations have now pledged their support in ‘every possible democratic way’ so that Sri Ram Sene (SRS) supremo Pramod Mutalik gets the fundamental right to enter Goa.
The decision to support Mutalik, who turned 60 on January 25, has come at a time when the hearing on the plea submitted by him through his advocate is being heard on Tuesday.
The leaders who held a day-long meeting in Belgaum on Monday over the ban and other national issues pertaining to ‘Love Jihad’ and rise in percentage of growth of Muslim community, also discussed means and measures to be initiated in case the hearing of the plea by Mutalik is turned down by Goan authorities.
Speaking at a joint news conference here on Monday, national spokesperson of Hindu Janjagaran Samiti (HJS) Ramesh Shinde termed the ban of entry against Mutalik as an insult to the Constitution.
“When a Taliban spokesperson can come to Goa and hold a meeting and when Russians and Nigerians can create havoc in Goa, how can the Goa government ban a patriot and national leader like Pramod Mutalik who has spent his lifetime for the cause of Hindutva and be banned from entering Goa to visit places of worship?” asked Shinde urging lifting of the ban with immediate effect.
Terming the ban on Mutalik as ‘Pagalapan’ (madness) of the authorities, Shinde further said, “In case the ban is not lifted, we will go to the High Court and vacate the ban, after which the authorities might have to face the lovers of Hindutva in Goa and other states, who have now come in support of Mutalik.”
Speaking on the occasion, Mutalik said he intends to pay a visit to the temples in Goa and also meet Jayant Balaji Athwale, who is like a guru to him.
“I will not spare anything including moving the Supreme Court and meeting the President of India over the ban imposed against me, which is against my fundamental rights,” stated Mutalik asking Goan authorities to show records of any ethnic disturbance in Goa during his past visits there.
