PANJIM: Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh on Sunday disclosed that the limbs found at Mandur are of stillborn foetus which was disposed of improperly and not of an infant as has been quoted by the media.
Taking to microblogging sitae ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), the DGP said, “It was a case of still born fetus and not an infant as quoted. Since the birth was concealed and it was improperly disposed of, a case under Section 318 IPC stands registered.”
Meanwhile, Agasaim Police have registered an offence against an unknown accused person for concealing the birth of an unknown infant baby and secretly disposing of the body.
As per the police, information was received at around 8 pm, on June 15, 2024, that in Mandur-Dongri locality, near the sluice gate, limbs of newborn were found, which were prima facie bitten by animals.
Therefore, an offence of concealing the birth of an unknown infant baby by secretly disposing of the body has been made out and in this connection an offence under Section 318 of IPC has been registered, police said.
LPSI Nehanda Tavares of Agasaim Police Station is conducting further investigation, the police added.
