Limited availability shortens vaccine drive at Assolna

ASSOLNA: The limited number of vaccines cuts the single day vaccination drive even shorter at Assolna on Wednesday.

“They had limited vaccines so only 88 individuals were vaccinated and by 2 pm, they finished the vaccination drive and closed down,” said Assolna sarpanch Xavier Almeida. He further divulged divulged, following the order of the Deputy Collector and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Jyoti Kumari IAS, it was held for only one day.

This however didn’t deprive the locals much as this was the fourth such vaccination drive being held in the rural Assolna village after May 11, April 13 and March 30 by the Assolna village panchayat in collaboration with the Margao Hospicio Hospital and the Chinchnim Primary Health Centre (PHC) at the Assolna sub-health centre situated in the GPS near the Assolna police outpost in the village.

On the first day 157 villagers aged 45 years and above received their second COVID vaccine dose, approximately 287 villagers were vaccinated on April 13 and 154 villagers received their first COVID vaccine jabs on March 30 under the vigilant watch of former Margao Hospicio Hospital Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Ira Almeida.
