PERNEM: Uday Naik, a lineman with the State Electricity Department was electrocuted while he was on duty and succumbed to his injuries soon after.
According to sources, the Department received a complaint of power fluctuation from a resort in the Newwada area, Morjim. Naik visited the spot, and to check the fault, he opened the electricity meter box, when he got an electric shock and fell off.
He also sustained head injuries in the fall. He was immediately shifted to the Siolim PHC, but succumbed while undergoing treatment.
