PONDA: The monsoon is that time of the year where most people chill out near waterfalls while on picnic and later end up creating nuisance at these sites.
According to the locals, one such incident was reported at the Bhutkhamb Querim waterfall on Sunday wherein visitors organised a liquor party and dumped bottles at the site despite the current State-wide curfew.
The incident came to light when Pondaites witnessed the visitors creating nuisance and immediately contacted the police.
After being informed about the incident, Ponda PI Mohan Gaude and his team rushed to Bhutkhamb and let go the youth with a warning.
Pondaites have demanded that the police and the panchayats ban visitors from visiting the waterfalls in the taluka.
Bhutkhamb residents said, “The locals opposed the Nylon 66 plant and the area acquired by company has been fenced. However, this has not stopped people from visiting Bhutkhamb plateau including women who create nuisance.”
The locals have now demanded that the government bring some industries here and provide employment to them.
