MARGAO: A resident of Madel-Margao has threatened to knock on the doors of the High Court if the authorities fail to stop the rampant discharge of sewage waste in the city’s storm water drains within 15 days.
In a complaint to the Margao Urban Health Centre and the Margao police, Savio Dias said while the Margao sewerage system is in a mess with sewerage finding its way in the water bodies and fields, the authorities have failed to stem the rot and save the citizens from health hazards and nuisance.
“Untreated sewage is flowing into the public places in Margao and Fatorda posing a health hazard. This is posing a great risk to public health,” he said, while urging the authorities to take necessary and immediate measures in public interest within 15 days to abate the nuisance or has threatened to file a Public Interest Litigation in the High Court.
