PANJIM: The Goa unit of National Students Union of India (NSUI) on Monday appealed to the Goa University to extend the academic term for First Year LLB degree course and conduct their semester examinations in second week of December so that teachers will get the required time to complete the syllabus and students will get the adequate time for preparing for semester exams.
A delegation of NSUI led by President Naushad Chowdhari met Goa University registrar and submitted him a letter regarding the same. Chowdhari said that though the exams of First Year LLB degree students starts from November 21, there was delay in declaration of UG results, due to which the admission process for LLB degree course started in September this year and classes for the same commenced from mid-September.
As per the ordinance of Goa University, each semester should be of 90 teaching days /15 weeks for the LLB degree course, which the students of the First Year LLB degree course are deprived of getting since their classes started only last month, he said.
Due to this, students of First Year LLB degree are struggling to cope up with their syllabus and studies. Also teachers are in pressure and are facing difficulties to complete the syllabus in short period of time, he added.
According to Chowdhari, the academic term for First Year Post-Graduation and Engineering students has been extended due to their delay in admission process but same is not implemented for First Year LLB degree students. He hoped that the Goa University will understand the seriousness of the problem and come out with a remedy and provide relief to the students.
