MAPUSA: Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo on Monday appealed to the people to cooperate with local bodies to take Clean Goa Mission forward.
Addressing the residents of Arpora-Nagoa at a dustbin distribution function organised by the panchayat, Lobo said, “Government is committed to make Goa garbage free by 2022. People should also change their behavior to remove garbage from every nook and corner by keeping the villages clean. People should cooperate with Panchayats in collecting segregated waste and help the Government to take forward the Clean Goa Mission.”
The minister said, “A rickshaw will be provided to the panchayat to collect the waste in the village. Similar to Parra panchayat, which started its door-to-door garbage collection six months ago, the Arpora Nagoa Panchayat should take initiative to take up door-to-door garbage collection to ensure a garbage free village.”
Sarpanch Deepika Redkar also spoke. The panchas were also present.
