MARGAO: The federation of GAKUVED condemned Calangute MLA Michal Lobo for assuring to give ST status to the Banjara community in Goa.
A video is being circulated on a social media in which Michal Lobo is seen speaking in a program assuring the Banjara community to provide them ST status in Goa. Condemning Lobo for his assurance to the Banjara community, the federation asked him to refrain from indulging in vote bank politics.
The Federation of GAKUVED was formed by members of Gawada, Kunbi, Velip and Dhangars of Goa which are indigenous communities of Goa. Though Gawda, Kunbi and Velip’s have got the ST status, the Dhangar community members are still deprived of their rights.
Meanwhile, the Federation of GAKUVED has once again demanded the inclusion of Dhangar community in the ST category.
