Local bodies controlled by corrupt MLAs: Benaulim legislator

Assures to strive hard to ensure sustainable development in all villages of his constituency

MARGAO: Alleging that there is deep mistrust among the local bodies in the State, which have been controlled by corrupt MLAs, Benaulim MLA Captain Venzy Viegas on Sunday assured to strive hard to bridge the gap with dialogue and transparency to ensure sustainable development in all villages of Benaulim constituency. 

He was speaking after attending the Carmona gram sabha wherein he discussed and listened to issues pertaining to the village.  

He and Velim MLA engineer Cruz Silva attended the gram sabhas of their respective panchayats on Sunday.

He later inspected Komlatollem at Vassvaddo-Benaulim along with AAP’s Benaulim Zilla Panchayat (ZP) member Hansel Fernandes to understand the issues faced by local farmers due to unplanned concretisation around the lake and vowed to address these grievances too.

Elsewhere, Velim MLA, engineer Cruz Silva attended the Ambelim gram sabha.

“I took stock of the minutes and the issues discussed. I expressed my willingness to assist the panchayat in all means possible for further development of our village and called for cooperation with the sarpanch, panchas and gram sabha members,” said Silva after the meeting.
