Local Residents in Fatorda Ward No. 1 Allege Improper Sewage Disposal, Urge CM for Action

Residents of Fatorda Ward No. 1 have raised serious allegations against the Public Works Department (PWD), claiming the intentional release of sewage water into the local nullahs. According to eyewitness accounts, instead of utilizing sewage tankers for proper disposal, a contractor allegedly opted to pump sewage directly into the nullahs, posing health risks and potential disease outbreaks within the community. Expressing their distress over the situation, residents have urgently appealed to the Chief Minister, demanding the immediate suspension of responsible PWD officers.

“This sewage is filled with human faeces from businesses and homes, the PWD put up a board and set up a motor, to remove it from the underground and release it into a nullah. If releasing sewage is allowed in nullas then what is the use of the government dipping up roads for sewage pipelines?  Every year people affected by dengue, malaria and other diseases are admitted to hospitals. I request the CM to suspend such officers and contractors,” said Local Milagres Fernandes.

They accused these officials of negligence by issuing directives for sewage discharge into the nullahs, endangering public health
