MARGAO, FEB 7
A day after thousands of litres of Aviation Turbine fuel flooded the khazan fields at Ambora-Loutolim following Saturday night’s mishap, residents of the locality complained of vomiting and nausea.
While a group of 4-5 persons were rushed to the Loutolim Primary Health Centre, health officials later conducted a survey of the locality to examine patients suffering from vomiting, nausea.
Loutolim PHC health officer, Dr Succoro Quadros told Herald that the drive was undertaken after some people complained of vomiting, nausea and irritation in the eyes. “Doctors and staff of the Loutolim Primary health centre have examined around 164 persons in the locality after visiting around 40 houses today. The people have complained of vomiting and nausea, besides burning sensation in their eyes”, he said.
Replying to a question, Dr Quadros said there is absolutely no need to panic, adding that the doctors and staff of the Loutolim Primary Health Centre will again visit the locality on Tuesday and examine the people.
