MARGAO: People were in total shock on Friday to see that the concerned telecom company engaged in the erection of a mobile network tower on the playground at Multipurpose Higher Secondary School in Borda, as this playground is the only ground for the locals and school children in the locality.
Locals led by councillor and Chairmen of the Parent-Teachers Association of the Multipurpose High secondary school, Camilo Barretto rushed to the site and took strong objections. They urged the concerned officials at the site to stop the work immediately.
Speaking to media persons Barretto said that the PTA had resolved not to allow the mobile tower inside the school premises, and that too on the playing ground.
“This is the only playground for the whole of Borda, as hundreds of youth, besides school children are benefited. However, erecting the mobile network tower on the playing ground is shocking and unacceptable,” he said.
