SANGUEM: The citizens from Sanguem led by Dr Shankar Nadkarni and other have urged the government to establish an independent office of Deputy Collector and Sub Divisional Officer for Sanguem taluka immediately.
In their representation addressed to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, the citizens have claimed that all other talukas in the state including the newly formed Darbandora Taluka have an independent deputy collector.
But the Sanguem taluka which is vast in area is yet to be allocated with the services of an independent deputy collector.
Presently, the citizens from Sanguem  to travel to the office of Quepem Deputy Collector who also looks after Sanguem.
Appointment of an independent deputy collector is crucial for the fact that the tribal people from Sanguem are compelled to travel to Quepem to avail the SC/ST certificates. Besides, citizens are also compelled to make frequent trips to the Office of the Deputy Collector Quepem in cases pertaining to partition holdings of small plots of lands and conversion matters.
In their representation to the chief minister, the citizens have also called for the immediate finalisation of plans and process for the construction of Ravindra Bhavan at Sanguem. The citizens claimed that though the process of construction of Ravindra Bhavan was set some years back, the process is held back for no valid reasons.
Even the land for the construction of the Ravindra Bhavan is finalised but the process is held back on account of failure by the authorities to do a proper follow up in the matter, claim the people from Sanguem.
