PERNEM: A major water pipeline providing water to Mandrem and surrounding areas which burst at Ashvem in Mandrem four days back is yet to be repaired causing wastage of thousands of litres of water.
With Pernem Taluka already facing a water shortage during summer, residents on Tuesday were left fuming as the pipeline was not repaired.
“Life has already become a nightmare for the residents of Mandrem constituency as they struggle with acute water shortage and in such a situation if a water pipeline is damaged then one can imagine what will be the hardships of the people.
The residents from Mandrem constituency are crying for proper water supply but the local MLA is least bothered. It’s been four days since the pipeline bust but it looks like the local MLA is staying outside Mandrem constituency and is least bothered about people’s sufferings,” Sanjay Kole, a local said urging the PWD authorities to repair the pipeline at the earliest.
