Panjim: Residents of Ward No. 10 in Margao are voicing their concerns and demanding immediate action to clear the growing piles of garbage that have become a looming health hazard. The accumulation of waste along roads and fields has raised apprehensions among locals.
Ward councillor Tavares Victorian expressed dismay over the indiscriminate dumping of garbage, including wet waste like fish, along the roadside. He further noted that despite daily door-to-door garbage collection efforts, residents from other wards also contribute to the problem by disposing of waste in Ward No. 10.
The situation has reached a point where the Municipal Corporation (MMC) special garbage collection truck only visits once every 10 days, and that too on special request. The alarming state of garbage disposal in the area has compelled residents to call for immediate clearance to avert potential health risks.
