PERNEM: Social workers Umesh Talavanekar and Suryakant Chodankar lit candles in the potholes on the roads of Pernem on Sunday, to pay tributes to the people, who died in road mishaps and to draw the attention of the government to the major issue.
The candles were lit on NH-66, service roads and other main roads in the taluka.
“We did this to draw the attention of the government and Public Works Department. If the government does not repair the roads in the coming seven days then I will setup a stone in front of the PWD office and do its puja,” said Talavanekar.
There have been more than 14 casualties reported in the road mishaps that took place in Pernem in recent months.
