CANACONA: With Gaondongrem Hills trapping the monsoon clouds resulting in heavy rains in the last couple of days, the enchanting and popular Bamonbudo waterfall has come to life once again.
At this waterfall, water slides down from a slightly angled granitic rock formation, making it a huge attraction in monsoon season with thousands of merry makers, both young and old coming from all over Goa to dip their legs and splash about in the water.
Located on the edge of MDR 34 road going from Gaondongrem to Neturli, Bamonbudo can be reached either via Canacona or Neturli and is about 17 kms from Chaudi, the commercial and administrative town of Canacona taluka.
Since the last few years the waterfall has become a hotspot for picnickers as well as merrymaking Goans who make a beeline to be under the millions of litres of soothing white and pure gushing waters of this fall.
In the past, there have been innumerable complaints from the tribal leaders staying en-route this waterfall, over the unruly misbehavior of the visitors, so much so that police have had to intervene in the past.
The police officials who are posted at a distance on either side of the waterfall during monsoon instruct the visitors not to create trouble and enjoy the waterfall peacefully. The vehicles of these tourists are also checked by the police for liquor and plastic, which are banned at the waterfall.
“To beat this restriction, lot of youth have tried to evade the law and are seen making merry with beer bottles in hand past 6 pm when police retract from duty from their respective positions,” locals say.
Kust Gaonkar, a tribal leader and deputy Sarpanch of Gaondongrem, requested the visitors to enjoy the waterfall but to be responsible with their actions.
