Locals oppose move to cremate COVID victims’ bodies at Bogda

VASCO: The locals and Urban Development Minister Milind Naik have opposed the decision to cremate the bodies of COVID victims at Bogda cremation ground.

It is learnt that the bodies of COVID positive victims were supposed to be brought at Headland Sada, Bogda area for cremation.
Councillor Murari Bandekar informed that as per his knowledge there was planning to bring the two bodies of COVID victims and cremate them at Bogda cremation ground. But after receiving information, the Urban Development Minister and the locals strongly opposed the decision of the local administration and said that they won’t allow the bodies from other parts of the State at Bogda crematorium.
Bandekar also informed that the minister also reportedly called up the Chief Minister and informed him about the opposition to the decision to cremate CoVID victims at Bogda. 
“It was learnt that Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant agreed to Minister’s request and the plan to cremate the bodies at Bogda crematorium was scrapped. The bodies are still at the ESI Hospital, Margao” Bandekar informed.
