Locals place grievances before Canacona Janata Darbar

CANACONA: The fourth edition of Janata Darbar was held at the Government Higher Secondary School, Canacona on Monday. 

Fisheries Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar, chairperson Ramakant Naik Gaonkar, Additional Collector Dipak Desai and Canacona deputy collector Ramesh Gaonkar were present on the dais to listen to the grievances of the people. 

“Bandharas at Vaijawada, Aasali which were washed away during the Canacona floods have yet to be repaired. The demand was put forth in all the last three editions but the Water Resources Department is not paying attention. I am myself a karyakarta of the tribal community as well as ruling BJP and yet, the work is stuck,” said former Shreesthal sarpanch Gaonkar.

“Canacona Community Health Centre lacks speciality doctors as well as some required facilities,” said chairman of Canacona Arogya Kalyan Samiti, Diago D’Silva. Local Meghnath Naik Gaonkar reminded about delay in receiving Agriculture Department’s subsidies.

Sarpanchas and panch members of various panchayats from Canacona were present for the meeting who raised local issues.
