Alarmed by the acute shortage of medical resources and staff
at the Balli Health Centre, Local MLA Altone D’Costa, alongside concerned
residents from Betul, Morpirla, Fatorpa, Barcem, and Cola, took a proactive
step by submitting a memorandum urging immediate upgrades to the center’s
facilities.
The memorandum, presented by a coalition of locals led by
D’Costa, highlighted the distressing situation faced by community members due
to the insufficiency of medical resources. Patients seeking treatment at the
Balli Health Centre have reportedly encountered prolonged waiting times,
stretching into hours, exacerbating their health concerns.
“Access to adequate healthcare is a fundamental right,
and the current conditions at the Balli Health Centre are a cause for grave
concern. Locals shouldn’t have to endure extended wait times or compromised
medical attention due to resource shortages,” expressed D’Costa.
The memorandum emphasized the urgent need for the center’s
upgrade, urging authorities to augment the medical staff, ensure a sufficient
number of beds to accommodate patients, enhance ambulance services, and provide
essential medical equipment. The collective appeal aimed to draw attention to
the pressing need for immediate action to address the healthcare deficiencies
in the region.
Local residents voiced their frustrations and concerns,
underscoring the challenges they face in accessing timely and adequate
healthcare services. The lack of medical infrastructure and personnel has
become a significant hurdle for the community, leading to increased hardships
for those in need of medical attention.
