MARGAO: Residents of Amrutnagar and nearby areas of Sonsodo garbage dump site on Wednesday requested Minister Vijai Sardesai to arrange a public presentation of plasma technology to clear the dump.
Though the Minister is on record that the Technology has been approved by the GSPCB, there are apprehensions amongst the public as there may be gaseous emissions in this process which may be very dangerous to residents nearby.
“Such processes are fine for industrial estates far away from the residential areas,” said Siddhanath Buyao who pointed out that in April 2017 too, the minister had installed some machines and promised that the dump would be cleared by May 17, which failed to materialise. Several attempts by individuals to clear the dump failed considerably.
