Locals should get NOC within month: Cong to MPDA

VASCO: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) vice president Sankalp Amonkar along with his supporters on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to Mormugao Planning and Development Authority (MPDA) demanding that MPDA chairman and his team should go to the concerned authorities and get the radius minimised.

“We just want that locals should get NOC within a month,” he said.

Amonkar marked the copies of the memorandum to Navy FOG officers, Civil Aviation Minister and others.

He said, “The MPDA has given in writing to the High Court that it will abide by Navy Colour Code and hence MPDA could not stand in Supreme Court.”

Amonkar further said, “The BJP is in power at Centre and also in the State, therefore MPDA should not go to Supreme Court and instead take a delegation to the minister concerned.”

Amonkar demanded that the people, who had invested their hard earned money in buying flats and constructing houses in Chicalim and Sancoale areas near airport, should get NOC from Navy within 30 days.

Meanwhile, MPDA member secretary K Ashok Kumar said, “The Congress delegation had come to submit a memorandum with regards to the colour coded zoning map and said that locals residing nearby the area of airport will suffer.”

Kumar explained that he is operating as per the High Court judgement as the NOC has to be obtained from Navy by the locals to construct anything within the radius of 4 kms from the airport.

He informed that so far around 44 files seeking NOC from the Navy have been sent to naval authorities since April 2020, but till date MPDA has not succeeded in getting even a single NOC.
