Locals slam PWD for water logging caused by incomplete highway works

MARGAO: Residents of Navelim have expressed their frustration with the Public Works Department (PWD) over incomplete highway works, which have resulted in severe water logging at the junction where the National Highway (NH) 17 and NH 66 intersect.

The locals have highlighted that during the highway construction, construction materials were left at the site for months. Additionally, the absence of a proper drainage system has exacerbated the flood-like situation in the area.

Concerns have been raised as these issues are occurring even after short spells of rain, and residents fear that the upcoming monsoon season will bring even greater hardships.

Shopkeepers near the junction have been badly affected, as the water logging between the highway and their shops has made access difficult for customers, resulting in a decline in business.

Despite bringing this matter to the attention of the authorities and the PWD, and noting similar problems during previous monsoons, no action has been taken thus far, according to the locals.
