MAPUSA: Anjuna locals on Saturday urged the Anjuna Caisua Panchayat to revoke the licences of hotels/resorts playing loud music during late night.
In a letter to the sarpanch, the locals stated that loud music for rave parties are being played throughout the night by the hotels and resorts on everyday basis in the jurisdiction of Anjuna Caisua and Assagao Panchayat with the support of Anjuna police, causing inconvenience to Anjuna and Assagao locals, especially the senior citizens.
They further complaint that the intensity of the music played by the organizers is so high that it reaches an area of almost 7 to 8 kms.
“The hotels/resorts opposite to Anjuna police station organise these parties,” the locals said.
They mentioned that the Directorate of Health Services have issued NOC to these hotels and resorts. However in the NOC, a clause is included which says that NOC will be revoked if any complaint is received from neighbouring people regarding noise pollution.
“The Directorate of Health Services has issued NOC to operate hotels and restaurants. However, open air dance clubs are being run here and they are not only violating the noise pollution laws and EFA, but also having illegal rave parties,” it stated.
