SANGUEM: While visitors have been flocking to the ‘Paikdev waterfall’ at Dudhal-Kalay, the locals have appealed to maintain cleanliness and discipline, besides adhering to religious sentiments in the area.
The seasonal ‘Paikdev waterfall’ has traditionally attracted visitors between July and September, but what makes the waterfall unusual is a cave that lies beneath the falls.
Locals claim that the cave is manmade, but are not sure why it was built in the first place.
Discussing the issue of cleanliness at the waterfall, residents at a recent Gram Sabha appealed to the visitors to follow certain restrictions while visiting the site.
Since the place is considered a sacred site, residents have urged visitors not to carry alcohol to the waterfall and to refrain from eating beef at the waterfall, while also keeping the place free from garbage and leftovers.
To visit the waterfall, one can either take a train to Kalay and than undertake a trek to Dudhal ward or simply drive to the waterfall from Sanguem via Costi.
