PONDA: Locals have demanded that the Public Works Department (PWD) clear the Portuguese era cross drain along the Kavlem-Talaulim main road which has been choked with mud, plastic and debris resulting in water accumulation.
They feared that the road could cave in any moment due to waterlogging during heavy rains.
The commuters travelling on Kavlem-Talaulim-Durbhat route complained that outsiders have dumped garbage leading to the cross drain located in Ward IV of Paunwada-Kavlem, getting choked.
Locals said that during monsoon, the rainwater flowing from the hill passes through the culvert which has been now totally blocked.
Further the gutters from the locality are also choked blocking the free flow of water.
