PERNEM: Forest officials seized logs worth Rs 10 lakh at Parsem, Pernem.
According to the Forest Department officials, a team under the supervision of North Goa Forest Conservator Kuldeep Sharma conducted a raid in the hilly areas of Gawandi Wada, Parsem and seized logs worth Rs 10 lakh.
The officials informed that acting on a tip off and after constant follow ups, a search operation was conducted at Gawandi Wada where teak and bhendi trees were felled and logs were kept hidden.
Around 172 bhendi logs and over 30 teak logs were seized by the Forest officials all valued Rs 10 lakh.
Meanwhile, the officials have registered a case under Forest Act against unknown person and further investigation is in progress to find the culprits.
