PANJIM: The filing of nominations for Lok Sabha elections 2024 is expected to gain momentum up momentum from Monday, April 15.
According to sources, so far eight persons, including political party representatives, have taken nine nomination papers in North Goa while seven persons have collected the nomination forms in South Goa so far.
Both candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) namely Shripad Naik for North Goa and Pallavi Dempo for South Goa Parliamentary constituency are likely to file their nomination papers on Tuesday, April 16. Dempo will first file the nomination papers before the returning officer South Goa Collector at Margao while Shripad Naik will file the nomination papers in Panjim. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and BJP State President and MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade will accompany the party candidates at the time of filing their nomination papers.
However, as far as Congress is concerned, the party has not made it known yet when the candidates will file the nominations. However, party sources said that both South and North Goa candidates will file the nomination papers on the same day.
The process of filing nomination papers for the May 7 Lok Sabha elections in Goa started on Friday, April 12, with the issuing of the Gazette notification for the third phase of 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The last date to file nomination papers is April 19 from 11 am to 3 pm.
